Our next Hospice Challange was the Hospice Walk at Portstewart Strand which was sponsored by Ashers! A team from the bakery travelled up to the gorgeous North Coast to take part in this well supported Walk along the beach on Portstewart Strand. There was a total of 187 people taking part in the walk, all in aid of a great cause! The Ashers team had a great day out!
I am delighted to announce our partnership with the NI Hospice for 2012! We are going to be involved in a number of events to help the hospice raise much needed funds! We would love if you got involved in some of these fun events with us.
I had a great day out at Dromore Viaduct, that once carried the GNRI railway line, with my friend Josh who abseiled down the 74ft high unused railway bridge!, all in aid of the NI Hospice.

Bob announces “flippin” great partnership with Northern Ireland Hospice!
In the run up to Pancake Tuesday, Ashers Baking Company will kick off their newly announced partnership with the NI Hospice by donating 10p from every packet of Ashers Pancakes sold throughout Northern Ireland between now and Pancake Tuesday! Miss N I, Finola Guinnane ambassador for N I Hospice helps Bob the Baker get things started.
Ellen Hillen, Corporate Fundraiser for N I Hospice said “we are delighted to welcome Ashers Baking Company on board as our charity partner for 2012. As a local charity we rely on voluntary donations and support from the NI business sector to help us raise over £5 million each year so that we can provide specialist nursing care for over 3,000 local children, young people and adults with life-limiting and terminal illnesses”.
As well as the year long partnership which will include a number of fundraising events, Ashers are sponsoring the Northern Ireland Hospice Portstewart Walk on 31st March as part of the NI Hospice Walk Week. Karen McArthur from Ashers announced the partnership and commented “To launch our support for the NI Hospice, we are donating 10 pence from every packet of Ashers Pancakes sold in the run up to Pancake Tuesday to the Hospice, We are delighted to be able to offer our support to a charity which carries out such amazing work throughout Northern Ireland. We are also really looking forward to taking part in the Portstewart walk and encourage everyone to come along and join in on 31st March at Portstewart strand; we will even have some Ashers goodies & Refreshments for all participants of the walk.”
Throughout the year Ashers Baking Company will be encouraging its staff and customers to support the NI Hospice by taking part in a number of fundraising events including the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon, The 2012 Hospice Walk, and the Dromore Viaduct Abseil!

Well, I had a very busy day last Friday when we teamed up with Citybeat Radio Station for the Big Friday Giveaway with the treat Team! Did you hear us on Citybeat? We were all over Belfast City Centre giving out sweet treats to everyone! We went from City Hall, Queens, Botanic, Kings Hall, City Hospital, Boucher Road and finished off at our Ashers store in Carnmoney. It was great to see so many of you braving the cold to get your hands on the Ashers Goodies!
